2D Character Game Artist (Fully Remote)

SOFTGAMES is seeking a creative and skilled 2D Character Game Artist to join our fully remote team, collaborating with diverse talents spread across the globe. Contribute your artistic vision to the visual development of our upcoming casual game. The ideal candidate will excel in creating appealing and memorable characters that resonate with our target audience. You'll work closely with our project Producer and fellow team members to ensure seamless integration of characters into the game's overall aesthetic. **Qualified applicants will be expected to complete a graphics test.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and create a variety of 2D character concepts.

• Develop high-quality characters and sprites.

• Collaborate closely with the animator to prepare and optimize character assets for export, ensuring they are ready for seamless integration into the game.

• Work with game designers to ensure character designs enhance gameplay and narrative.

• Iterate on character designs based on feedback from the team.

Your profile

• Proven experience as a 2D Character Artist with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.

• Proficiency in 2D art software such as Adobe Photoshop

• Strong understanding of anatomy, form, and color theory.

• Ability to create characters in a range of styles, from cartoony to semi-realistic.

• Experience with casual or mobile games is a plus.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to take direction and incorporate feedback effectively.

• Passion for creating characters that engage and entertain players.

Bonus Skills

• Experience with Unity or other game engines.

• Familiarity with character rigging and animation. Experience with character animation and skeletal animation software such as Spine2D.
