Upstatement is looking for a Engineering Director to join our engineering practice. The right person for this role is an experienced engineering leader who has a proven track record of growing full-stack engineering teams, directing complex technology projects, overseeing quality, and winning new business.

What You’ll Do- Engineering Management. Work closely with your direct reports to establish goals and promote their career development.
- Grow the team. Assist the CTO with recruitment, hiring, and retention efforts and team building initiatives aimed at strengthening department culture and cohesion.
- Business Development. Contribute an executive presence to the business development process, bringing us new work and strengthening the quality of the opportunities before us.
- Technology Direction. Fulfill the Technology Director role on 1-3 client projects, working alongside project leads to establish a cohesive and impactful technology strategy as part of Vision phases.
- Dependable Delivery. Collaborate with design and engineering leads to ensure the successful execution and evolution of technology strategy throughout the Build Delivery phase.
- Experienced Engineering Manager, preferably in an agency context
- Has executive presence; can lead a room
- Expert stakeholder manager
- Comfortable navigating uncertainty
- Experienced developing technical strategies through research and solution architecture
- Fluent with one or more server-side languages
- Knowledgable of popular frameworks and CMSs
- Familiar with modern front-end development tools and best practices
- Capable of working on multiple projects concurrently

Salary Range: $180,000 - $200,000
