Human Resources Generalist - Job DescriptionThe role:

At Optimal Dynamics, we are focused on what people need and how to provide it. As a member of our team, the human resources generalist will work closely with our Chief of Staff and our CFO/COO to support our company in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. The human resources generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, and will be responsible for important functions such as benefits, leave, creating and enforcing company policies and practices, staffing, training and development, and compensation and benefits. Key responsibilities and objectives:
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; performance review cycles and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handle employment-related and sensitive inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors. Meet with each manager monthly to touch base on team and individual status.
  • Provide a dedicated and effective HR advisory service to employees that covers absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievances, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters.
  • Develop and implement a new-hire onboarding process ensuring an exceptional experience.
  • Handle onboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS) and audits for accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate and execute employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations of incidents.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices. Update policies and procedures when necessary.
  • Develop and execute personnel procedures and policies, and provide guidance and interpretation for business operations.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Manage the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of our employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart.
  • Assist in the management of our Manhattan office including administrative tasks, building requirements, and coordination of weekly lunches.
  • Own the development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for company requirements.
  • When necessary, create job descriptions, recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Qualifications:
  • At least five years of human resource management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in human resources, business, or related field.
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills with ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take on a project from start to finish.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn our HRIS and talent management systems. We currently utilize Justworks, Greenhouse, and Culture Amp.
  • Dependability and interest in working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Previous experience with a tech company is a plus.
