Roles and Responsibilities:
The Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and performance tuning of SQL databases. This role requires a deep understanding of database architecture, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage multiple databases in a high-availability environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with SQL Server, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to database management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Database Design and Architecture: o Design, implement, and maintain complex SQL database systems. o Develop database solutions to meet business requirements and improve system performance. o Create and optimize database schemas, tables, indexes, and stored procedures.
2. Database Administration: o Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including backups, recovery, and security measures. o Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to ensure optimal performance. o Manage database access and permissions, ensuring data security and compliance with industry standards.
3. Performance Tuning and Optimization: o Analyze and optimize SQL queries, indexes, and database configurations. o Implement best practices for database performance, scalability, and reliability. o Conduct regular performance audits and capacity planning to support future growth.
4. Troubleshooting and Support: o Provide expert-level support for database-related issues, including troubleshooting and resolving incidents. o Collaborate with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to resolve database-related issues. o Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for database systems, procedures, and configurations.
5. Automation and Scripting: o Develop and maintain scripts for database automation tasks, such as backups, monitoring, and reporting. o Implement automation tools to streamline database management processes and improve efficiency.
6. Disaster Recovery and High Availability: o Design and implement robust disaster recovery and high-availability solutions. o Conduct regular tests of backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
• In-depth knowledge of SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, and optimization techniques. • Experience with high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, such as Always On Availability Groups, replication, and log shipping. • Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell, and other scripting languages. • Strong understanding of database security principles and best practices. • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. • Strong communication and collaboration abilities. • Certification in SQL Server (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) is a plus.
