As our Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading and scaling our engineering teams while ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical solutions. With 70% of your time focused on people management and 30% on technical oversight, you will balance leadership with strategic technical contributions. This role is key to fostering collaboration between Back-End, Mobile, DevOps, and QA teams, driving innovation, and aligning engineering efforts with business objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and Inspire:
    • Manage and mentor a team of up to 10 engineers, including Back-End, Mobile, DevOps, and QA teams.

    • Conduct regular, 1:1s, provide feedback and support career development.

    • Cultivate an inclusive and high-performing team culture

  • Oversee Development:
    • Ensure smooth collaboration between back-end and mobile teams to deliver innovative and high-quality solutions

    • Monitor and improve team productivity, code quality and performance metrics.

    • Identify areas of strategic technical debt, analyze cost/benefit for resolving it, and communicate suggested timelines to the management team.

  • Foster Technical Excellence:
    • Maintain high engineering standards and stay informed on best practices across backend and mobile development.

    • Provide technical guidance when needed and ensure robust technical discussions within the team

  • Strategize and Plan:
    • Collaborate with Product Managers and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business goals.

    • Drive technical roadmaps, architectural decisions, and team processes to support our growing business.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Leadership Experience
    • 3+ years of experience managing teams of 5+ engineers, ideally including leading remote teams across APAC and EU timezones.

    • Experience with performance management and ensuring teams deliver on roadmap objectives.

    • Proven track record of delivering high-impact projects in fast-paced environments.

  • Technical Experience
    • Experience managing teams that build native mobile applications. (iOS and Android) and back-end systems to facilitate effective cross-functional collaboration.

    • Significant back-end development experience, with the ability to understand and contribute to architectural discussions.

    • Excel at collaboration and communication across teams and levels.

    • Applying your experience to various programming languages and frameworks.

  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, enabling seamless teamwork across different teams and levels.

    • A strategic mindset with the ability to keep projects on track while thinking about long-term goals.

  • Nice to have:
    • Familiarity with various programming languages and frameworks.

    • A background in both startup and scaling environments.

    • Previous success in creating a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and growth within an engineering team.
